Reading is one of my favorite hobbies to do during my leisure time. In fact, my goal is to read at least 12 books per year. I feel like reading is a passive way of learning.
As I browse the internet, one man catches my attention. He is a successful businessman and an avid reader like me. As I searched more about him, I discovered that he had experienced multiple struggles before he reached success in the business industry.
He is Warren Buffett, an American businessman who claims to read up to 600 pages of books daily – wow! I purchased some of Buffett’s most favorite books that I think are worth sharing with you.
The books that I included below will help you generate new ideas, see your business from different perspectives, and create strategies to succeed in this industry. So, if you want to know more about it, keep reading.
Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham
Benjamin Graham is one of the greatest authors that Warren Buffett admires. He even considered Graham’s Intelligent Investor as the bible of investing. Buffett also claimed that he acquired most of his knowledge about investing in this book, which he read for the first time when he was 19 years old.
Just like what you expect in most books about investing, this one covers everything you must know before capitalizing your money on something. This book is written for beginners to help them understand how investing works.
Graham included in his book that investors should understand and analyze the financial reports of a company. With that, I think what Graham tries to imply is to let new investors ignore external hoax fear and noise.
This Buffett’s favorite book taught me the importance of assessing an establishment’s financial health before investing in it to achieve acquisition goals. This handy investing guide also talks about the most recommended analytical tools that will help you achieve financial stability in the future.
Poor Charlie’s Almanack: The Wit and Wisdom of Charles T. Munger
Charlie Munger is another well-known author by prolific readers, including Warren Buffett. In this book, he shares multiple financial pearls of wisdom. I was surprised after knowing that Munger is Berkshire’s vice president and long-time business partner of Buffett.
Aside from being a successful businessman, Buffett is also loved by many because of his insights, innate wit, and sweet humor. If you also love these traits of Buffett, you will surely adore Munger’s Poor Charlie Almanack.
In Buffett’s 2010 shareholder letter, he jokingly said, “Just buy a copy (about “Poor Charlie Almanack) and carry it around; it will make you look urbane and erudite.”
Security Analysis by Benjamin Graham and David Dodd
Security Analysis is another great work written by Benjamin Graham and his co-author David Dodd. This sought-after book, which is divided into different parts, is written to help readers know and understand the essential steps of evaluating an investment.
One part of this book explains the major role of intrinsic value in investment analysis. This will help readers to understand the company’s intrinsic value. Furthermore, other parts of the book focus on how readers can use Graham’s margin-of-safety principle.
This part of the book helped me understand how to make a wise purchase of digital stocks, especially during low market prices. The investment strategies you can find in this book will help future investors to acquire higher income.
Warren Buffett also claimed that he had read this book four times. According to him, “Security Analysis provided a road map for investing that I have now been following for 57 years.”
The Little Book of Common-Sense Investing by John C. Bogle
For anyone who wants to know and understand how investing in the stock market works, this book by John C. Bogle is a must-read. Did you know that the author of this book is The Vanguard Group’s chief executive and founder?
The Little Book of Common-Sense Investing is one of the most popular and favorite books of Warren Buffet. This book will teach different investment strategies that are simple to understand but give an effective result.
As I read through each page of this book, I have learned how to generate money that will benefit me in the long run. Beyond that, The Little Book Of Common-Sense Investing also expands my knowledge of investment compounding and index funds. It is a great book that showcases the benefits of opting for long-term investing.
Business Adventures: Twelve Classic Tales from the World of Wall Street by John Brooks
In 1991, Buffett shared his favorite book to Bill Gates by sending him a personal copy of Business Adventures, which was authored by John Brooks. In this book, you will find the 12 Classic Tales from the World of Wall Street. Most of its chapters explain the different strategies to manage better and run a business. As I started investing in the stock market a few years ago, the first chapter of this book is one of my favorites because it talks about market fluctuations.
It helped me a lot to understand that the finance industry has a very volatile market. Each chapter contains important details, including the significant market crash in 1962. It gives a well-detailed report of how such a situation damaged the US stock market, with more than 20 billion US Dollars-worth of stock value has lost.
Did you know that Buffett’s personal copy of this book is still displayed on Bill Gates’ bookshelf? In fact, he considers it one of the best books he has read in his entire life.
